Excuse Me, But You Don't Charge Enough For Gas

That is what a gas station owner in Wisconsin was told by the state government. They stated that he was offering prices that went against the unfair sales act. This could land him a hefty fine for all that he discounted gas for. So what was the discount for? Senior Citizens and those who support youth sports. The discount was 2 cents and 3 cents off per gallon respectively. The owner, Raj Bhandari, stated that he did not want his customers to think he has suddenly become greedy.

Some questions:

-Should the government be as stringent when it comes to what constitutes "unfair sales"?
-Is it fair that Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Kroger and others can give discounts on gas sales via membership or a user card?
-Is this a case of upholding the letter of the law without considering the heart of the law?
