FORMER NASA astronaut and moon-walker Dr Edgar Mitchell - a veteran of the Apollo 14 mission - has stunningly claimed aliens exist.
And he says extra-terrestrials have visited Earth on several occasions - but the alien contact has been repeatedly covered up by governments for six decades.
Dr Mitchell, 77, said during a radio interview that sources at the space agency who had had contact with aliens described the beings as 'little people who look strange to us.'
He said supposedly real-life ET's were similar to the traditional image of a small frame, large eyes and head.
Chillingly, he claimed our technology is "not nearly as sophisticated" as theirs and "had they been hostile", he warned "we would be been gone by now".
You can read more here.
You can listen to the audio here.
Some questions:
-Do you believe in intelligent alien life?
-Would such a belief contradict the Bible?
-Do you believe the statements Dr. Mitchell made or do you believe Nasa?
-Do you think our government lies to us? Why?

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers

Villagers in southern Peru were struck by a mysterious illness after a meteorite made a fiery crash to Earth in their area, regional authorities said Monday.
Villagers complained of a "strange odor" and suffered effects such as headaches and vomiting. Even the emergency personel sent in to help became sick and had to be hospitalized.
You can read more here.
Some questions:
-What do you think would be a logical explanation for the smell and sickness?
-Are there other reports of such things happening on record?
-Is this common occurence for meteor strikes?

Google Earth Has Flight Simulation & Space
I re-discovered Google Earth and all its components -- Google Sky and a nifty a flight simulator. You can get everything you need on the Google Earth site.
Once you have Google Earth installed, I insist that you kill as much time as I did with its built-in flight simulator. Click Control-A to bring up the application and once you've hit ground by wildly stabbing the arrow keys on your keyboard, head for the Flight Simulator Keyboard Controls page. If you want more help with the fight similar, head for Marco Gallotta's blog.
You can read more and see some screenshots here.
Some questions:
-Have you ever peroused Google Earth?
-What do you think about the flight simulator?
-Did you check out the constellations?
-If you have ever tried Celestia? If so, do you think google earth can catch up?

Dinosaur Extinction Culprit Found: Baptistina
New Scientist has reported that David Nesvorny and his colleagues from the Southwest Research Institute have apparently found the asteroid that pummeled earth nearly 65 million years ago according to some estimates. This asteroid has been labeled the dinosaur killer.
Here is a quote from the article:
Nesvorny's team has calculated that a 10-kilometre asteroid, one of roughly 300 chunks of the original 170-kilometre 'mother rock', would have collided with the Earth. Other fragments of this asteroid may have hit Venus, they suggest, and could have been responsible for the formation of Tycho, the youngest prominent crater on the Moon.
You can read more here or read the SRI paper here (which shows it as being released tomorrow: the 6th).
Some questions:
-What are your thoughts about some of the facts and figures being surrounded by qualifiers such as "may have", "could have", "suggests"?
-How could one construct a model to show that this group of rocks is what is left of the one rock that struck the earth somewhere 65 million years ago and wiped out life as it was known back then?
-How could one even trust dating methods to go back so far?

Asteroid Impact Causes Catastrophic Damage
In my last post I wrote about the meteor shower currently taking place. That caused me to start thinking about worst-case scenarios... such as this one:

You can watch the video here.
Some questions:
-If you knew that something like this would likely occur within the next 24 hours, would you change anything in your life?
-What is important to you now, would it be important to you if you knew that this was about to occur?
-Would your priorities change?
If you answered yes to any of the above, why do you think it would take something like this to change your priorities?
Perseids Meteor Shower
My wife and I were entertaining company last night and the other fellow and I got to talking about taking our wives out to see the Perseids after we finished fellowshipping at our home. We took the ladies out and sat and gazed at the heavens in amazement from about 20 miles outside of town. There are so many stars in the sky and you could even see one of the arms of the Milky Way. The night sky: humbling. Awe-inspiring. This beautiful wonder that we can look up and see on a regular basis should point us to a Creator. Imagine if we are humbled and awe-struck at one of the works of His hands, how much more we will be struck with awe when we come before Him! I believe this to be why God gave us beauty to marvel at. Not so the marvel with stop with the created thing, but so that it would lead us back to its origin in God.
Anyways, I plan on going back at some point tonight and taking my camera out to do some long exposures of the night sky. The flow tonight for the Northern Hemisphere is to be around 80 per hour before sunrise. If you get a chance, take some time to look up and marvel at what the Creator has done.
