Affirmitive Action

Scenario 1: A basketball team has 2/3 of its members as one race group. The other 1/3 is a mixture of other race groups. Should affirmitive action be instituted to even out the team?

Scenario 2: A business has 2/3 of its members as one race group. The other 1/3 is a mixture of other race groups. Should affirmitive action be instituted to even out the business?

Some questions:

-Do you think it would be absurd to pick a team based on race as opposed to skill and talent? Why would it be any different for business or school?
-With the original intent of affirmitive action understood, do you think that it has served its purpose?
-Do you think a business should be made to pick someone of lesser skill and talent because of affirmitive action?
-Do you think there is a way to still "even the playing field" so to speak, but without having to pass up someone who is better qualified but has the wrong skin color to fit the affirmitive action mold?
-Has affirmitive action helped or hurt America?
