Tag! You're Suspended!

An elementary school has banned tag on its playground after some children complained they were harassed or chased against their will.
"It causes a lot of conflict on the playground," said Cindy Fesgen, assistant principal of the Discovery Canyon Campus school.

You can read more here.

Some questions:
-What will these children be like in adulthood (the ones who complained)?
-Is this fair for the majority?
-Can you imagine a playground without some variation of tag?
-Is this just another form of political correctness?

Well Heaven forbid should there be conflict on the playground or anywhere else in those poor little kids lives.

Sigh...

We are not allowed to let the children play tag on the playground at the school where I teach because of the exact reason you cited...not because it happened at our school, but because a precedent has been set. I think it's stupid, and so does the rest of the fcaulty and administration, but we have to be SO careful these days, even in a private school where we can do things "our way" in many areas. You never know when a lawsuit could be thrown your way!

I don't think we are teaching children to be stronger individuals in the school system today. I think we are preparing them to sue anyone who makes them unhappy. It's unfortunate.

It is, I believe, another instance of Political Correctness running amok. These children will be adults who will never be able to handle criticism or a negative word about anything. But, hey, their parents are already that way. That's where they are learning it from. I can't imagine a school playground without tag. And I was never forced to play tag if I didn't want to. That's silly. All you have to do is not run. No one can chase you if you aren't running. Regarding political correctness...I once heard a guy say, while standing in a line at Six Flags, "If it's politically correct, it's intellectually corrupt." I agree 100% and will never forget that statement.
