First For Friday Comes Early!

It is the wife's birthday tomorrow and I will be out of pocket for the most part of today so I thought I would go a head and post First For Friday. Her family is coming into town and we are taking our nieces to a safari park on Saturday. I think we will have a lot of fun and I am looking foward to it.

I'm first, although I have nothing to say.

Oh wait...Jeremy, can you tell me why my Linksys wireless router just suddenly stopped putting out a signal? I've pinpointed that it is definitely the culprit, but I've had it for just over a year. Any tips, Mr. Computer Wizard? (I'll do anything to avoid having to talk to those techs on the phone...I never know what they're talking about!)

Lightening could do it. Power surge could do it. Faulty craftsmanship could do it. Those things are unfixable on your end.

The things to try is reseting it. Unplug it for 15 seconds and plug it back in. That should reset everything and refresh the connection.

You say that it is the culprit so I assume you can plug in directly by bypassing the router and get connected to the internet. Can you still connect to it via a cable and get internet (the connections on the back)? If yes, then I would think that the wireless aspect is just not connecting with the laptop. If that is the case, check to see if you can find other signals (wireless) with your laptop elsewhere. If it can then most definitely you have a wireless issue with your router, if you can't connect wirelessly with your laptop, make sure you have that setting on on your laptop. If it is, make sure it is configured properly.

If it truly is the router and the warranty is out (or you can't take it back and exchange it) go to www.dealnews.com and do a search for one. It will give you the best price for a new one. Try d link- I have had good luck with it.

Hey thanks.
Yeah, I'm connected directly into my modem right now and have a fine connection. My wireless Ethernet card doesn't seem to be the problem. So, I should probably go find a hotspot and see if I can pick up a signal. I will try that and see if it works. I've tried resetting the router, but it didn't help.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Have fun at the safari park. :)
