Hillary Clinton On Her Faith

Reporter: Can I ask you theologically, do you believe that the resurrection of Jesus actually happened, that it actually historically did happen?

Senator Clinton: Yes, I do.

Reporter: And, do you believe on the salvation issue -- and this is controversial too -- that belief in Christ is needed for going to heaven?

Senator Clinton: That one I'm a little more open to. I think that it is, as we understand our relationship to God as Christians, it is how we see our way forward, and it is the way. But, ever since I was a little girl, I've asked every Sunday school teacher I've ever had, I asked every theologian I've ever talked with, whether that meant that there was no salvation, there was no heaven for people who did not accept Christ. And, you're well aware that there are a lot of answers to that. There are people who are totally rooted in the fact that, no, that's why there are missionaries, that's why you have to try to convert. And, then there are a lot of other people who are deeply faithful and deeply Christ-centered who say, that's how we understand it and who are we to read God's mind about such a weighty decision as that.

You can read/listen to the audio here. (I encourage you to listen)

Some questions:
-What are your thoughts concerning Hillary's answers?
-What do you think of the audio recording?
-Where do you think she was going with the Sunday School bit?
-Does this change your opinion about her? In what way?

I have wondered. If (since) Jesus is the LORD, and it has always only been thru a personal relationship with the LORD that we attain eternal life - what is really said in the NT. Salvation is only thru Jesus - yes; but that has always been the case. It is Jesus' sacrifice that pays the atonement for our sins - yes; but does the recipient of that grace have to fully understand that?

A related topic in the past has been - do you have to understand the Lordship of Jesus to be saved. (Ie, do you have to understand that Jesus is the LORD?) When I first accept the Lord I was 5. I don't think I understood that concept then - but I was at that time promised eternal life. So at that time I understood (sort of) the concept of the atoning sacrifice but not truly the Lordship.

What truly has to be understood to be saved? I don't really know for sure. The relationship has to be there, and the trust in the LORD. Jesus is the LORD so the trust would be in him.

I know what I think, but I've had 32 years to think about it also. All I know is someday (soon) we'll find out the answer.

I think Hillary answered the questions honestly and she is honestly deceived and unless she repents and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ alone is on the broad road to hell.

In Christ,
